This patient presented with a tooth that had significant damage and weakening but did not require a full dental crown. To preserve as much healthy tooth structure as possible, we restored the tooth with a custom dental onlay. An onlay is a conservative restorative treatment that strengthens and protects a damaged tooth while maintaining more of the natural tooth compared to a traditional crown.
The before image shows the compromised tooth with areas of damage and wear. After carefully removing the weakened tooth structure, a custom-crafted onlay was designed to fit precisely over the affected areas of the tooth. The final result restores the tooth's strength, function, and appearance while providing long-lasting protection against future damage.
Dental onlays are an excellent option for patients with larger cavities, cracked teeth, or failing restorations that are too extensive for a filling but do not require a full crown. The completed restoration blends seamlessly with the surrounding teeth, allowing the patient to smile, eat, and speak with confidence.
